Translation and psychometric evaluation of the Greek version of the Body Image Guilt and Shame Scale

This study examined the psychometric properties of Greek version Body Image Guilt and Shame Scale (BIGSS) in a community sample (N = 2867) both genders. A set questionnaires was administered. It included demographic data, Mass Index, (BIGSS), Appreciation Scale, Other as Shamer Experience Scale. The best solution for BIGSS (according to exploratory factor analysis) supported two-factor structure, similar that found original validation. These two factors reflect body guilt shame. One more derived, which corresponds no image shame, its items serve fillers 15 scenarios BIGSS. Cronbach’s α value .90 .85 subscales. There significant positive correlation subscales with negative one Gender BMI significantly predicted score on age subscale. In conclusion, has adequate internal consistency, reliability construct validity, it is suitable research clinical use.
